ABOUT

MA Printmaking (RCA) 2009-11

Lives and works in Dorset, England.

Laura Elizabeth’s work is driven by, guided by, beauty; the finding ,and fashioning, the evoking and assembling of it, following its signs and traces.

Her practice encompasses drawing, painting, sculpture and collage, navigating the edges and intersections of these disciplines to offer both playfulness and their intensity. The work is considered and instinctive - positioned between the intimate and the infinite.

Her chosen materials , visual, and literary are edited, and , embellished, redacted and remade to suggesting shimmering and shifting forms and planes.

A graduate of the fine art printmaking course at the Royal College of Art in London, Laura has a masterful command of traditional printmaking and bookbinding techniques. Her aesthetic is influenced by, but never beholden to such methods. Similarly the work is subtly informed by the poise and grace of Japanese practices (ikebana, tokonoma, moku hanga, ceramics).

Laura's work features in public and private collections internationally. She is an able and accomplished teacher who has travelled widely, pursuing numerous residencies worldwide.
